Mosaic Conservation Course (MCC) Jordan&Tunisia 2012-2013 is a training course for restorers and conservators of mosaics from Jordan and Tunisia. The course, organized by CCA, the Centro di Conservazione Archeologica di Roma was held in the Convento di San Nicola in Belmonte in Sabina, Italy, and directed by Roberto Nardi. The course is part of MOSAIKON, a project funded by the Getty Foundation and promoted by GCI, the Getty Conservation Institute, in partnership with ICCROM and ICCM, the International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics. The MOSAIKON initiative aims to build capacity for the conservation and management of mosaics in the Mediterranean region. The course was structured in one seven week module and one five week module. Both combined theoretical lectures with intensive laboratory practice and cultural visits to museums and archaeological sites in Italy. Laboratory practice focussed on the treatment of a Roman mosaic from the Villa del Quadraro, Rome, dating to the 3rd century A.D., and of an opus sectile pavement from the Roman Villa of Sant’Imbenia in Sardinia.
