The Monastery of Santo Domingo de Silos is located in the Burgos Province in northern Spain.
The monastery dates back to the 7th century, but its current name and architecture is from the 11th century when the structure was renovated according to Romanesque style. The Monastery is reknown for its two-storey cloister, which has large capitals with carved scenes and also relief panels, considered a masterpiece of Romanesque art.
In 1985 CCA was asked by the Ministry of Culture of Spain and the Getty Conservation Institute to assess the state of conservation of the structure and to propose options for its long-term conservation.
