About this lecture
In the frame of the 3rd IGIIC Congress, held in Palermo on 22-24 September 2005, Chiara Zizola presented the results of the restoration treatment on the mural paintings in the Amiriya madrasa at Rada’, Yemen, carried out by the Centro di Conservazione Archeologica of Rome in the years 2002-2005. She also spoke about the training course for six technicians of the General Organization of Antiquities, Museums and Manuscripts of Yemen (GOAMM), and activities carried out to sustain the results of the project. During her speech, the working techniques used to execute the wall paintings, some of the factors and events that have contributed to the deterioration of the mural paintings and the restoration treatment were illustrated and discussed.
Emphasis was placed on collaborative intervention and training on international projects.
