The Monastery of St. Catherine on Mount Sinai was built under the Byzantine emperor Justinian in the sixth century AD, on a site that had been venerated long before as the place where Moses encountered God in the form of the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-10). The results of the restoration of the mosaic of the Transfiguration in the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai were presented by Roberto Nardi on June 28, 2007 in Rome at the Pontificia Accademia di Archeologia in Palazzo della Cancelleria. The text of this conference is now published by the Tipografia Vaticana in the volume LXXXII 2009-2010 of the Rendiconti.
