About this lecture
On Tuesday the 23rd of May 2017, in occasion of the annual conference of the Unione Internazionale degli Istituti di Archeologia, Storia e Storia dell’Arte in Rome, a study meeting was held at the Accademia dei Lincei on the theme “Conservation and Heritage Management: An International Responsibility “. Gian Mario Porcheddu presented the MCC-Mosaikon program.
In 2010, as part of MOSAIKON, CCA launched the Mosaic Conservation Course (MCC), generously funded by the Getty Foundation. It focussed on training conservators from the Departments of Antiquities in Jordan, Libya, Syria and Tunisia with the aim of reinforcing in these countries the institutional capacities to manage the legacy of mosaics in danger of destruction and to prepare a group of 16 professional conservators, out of an initial pool of 28, sustained by local authorities, capable of dealing with care and conservation of mosaics, linked into an international professional network.
