In relation to the urgent measures for the conservation of the arch of Septimius Severus, the Archaeological Superintendence of Rome has invited the Municipality of Rome and the British School at Rome to conduct preliminary investigations for a definitive protection cover against the perpetuation of damages deriving above all from the rain. As a preparation for the investigations, a general survey of the interior of the attic and the access staircase was carried out and for this reason a long excavation and cleaning work was essential.
