About this lecture
The mosaic of the Transfiguration in the Church of Saint Catherine in the Sinai is a rare example of early Byzantine art, and has survived to our day without substantial damage to the original materials. It received conservation treatment performed in 2005-2008 by the CCA, Centro di Conservazione Archeologica of Rome.
Chiara Zizola presented the results of the first extensive collection and documentation of assorted technical and material data, carried out during conservation treatment, finalized to the study of the original VIth century execution technique.
